I am pleased to announce that my painting, Desert Light, was chosen for the cover of the 2009 Hidden In The Hills studio tour catalog. Hidden In The Hills is an annual event, sponsored by the Sonoran Arts League, that takes place the last two weekends in November in the Cave Creek, Carefree and North Scottsdale area. For more information on this event please go to

I studied art education at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, was a public educator for 30 years, and received my masters with an emphasis in painting at Eastern Michigan University.

I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t drawing and painting. My parents encouraged me with gifts of art supplies and trips to museums. For many years my paintings have been non-representational, but a few years ago when we moved to northern Michigan I was overwhelmed by the beauty there and began painting landscapes. Since moving to Arizona, the inspiration continues. There are many artists I admire. A short list might include Monet, VanGogh, Cezanne, Kline, Deibenkorn, Raushenberg, Kahn, Frankenthaler, Scholder and T.C. Cannon.

Pat Cain is an artist from the midwest presently living in the Phoenix AZ area. Her website www.patcainart.com showcases many examples of her work. She creates abstract/non-objective paintings and collages using oil, acrylic, watercolor, watercolor crayons and organic materials. Her landscapes of lakes, fields, farms, orchards, vineyards, mountains and deserts, and her figures are "impressions" of Michigan and Arizona places and people she has experienced. Much of Pat's work is commissioned. She is represented by Bella Galleria and The Blue Heron Gallery in northern Michigan and Art One Gallery in Scottsdale.
